In Rudolstadt, the former residence of the earls of Schwarzburg, lies the magnificent baroque palace Heidecksburg. Only after the three-winged renaissance castle of Albrecht VII was destroyed by a fire in 1735, a castle in the baroque style was built. Looking at the ballroom  and the interior decoration the absolutist court art becomes obvious. The palace with the museum, exhibitions and numerous exceptional artworks has been open to the public since 1918. Be sure not to miss this fascinating  attraction.
