The Goethe National Museum is the the Weimar Trust for Classics (Stiftung Weimarer Klassik) most visited museum and a listed building. The light and stairs are two striking characteristics. The poet's home was built in 1709 in the Baroque style and the furnishings were chosen by him. He lived in the house for nearly 50 years, first as tenant, then as owner. In the front building one can visit Goethe's work rooms, which have been preserved and kept unchanged.
